Sloppy Shelleys (Sloppy Joes)

They are soooooo much better than the canned stuff. Also super simple!

The original recipe was from a cook book for kids from the late 70s. I found the book in our house sometime in the 90s. It was so simple I memorized it after only making it for my parents a few times.

This is my version that has been tweaked over the years.

Ingredients (to taste):

1-2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
1 medium to large onion, diced
1 medium to large green pepper, diced
Crushed garlic (optional)
Olive oil (or your favorite oil/butter)
Chili Sauce (I only use Heinz - sweet not spicy)

Recipe:

Sauté the garlic & onions in olive oil.
After about 5 minutes, add the green pepper.
Sauté another 5-10 minutes.
Add the meat and cook till browned.
Add chili sauce (original recipe was 3 Tbsp, I use whole 12oz bottle...so to taste lol).
Simmer another 10 minutes.
Done!
